Maryland’s Senator Cardin is pushing federal legislation to make it easier for the feds to crack down on whistle-blowers. By criminalizing a broader array of activities, his bill would have an even greater chilling effect on good people who might need to respond to an ethical dilemma by voicing concerns about government actions. Cardin will erect a higher wall around federal activities, some of which do not stand up well in the light of day.
