Ars Technica followed up its earlier report about Facebook photos not really being deleted when a user removes it from his or her page, with confirmation of what cynics already more or less knew: photos are still there if you know the full URL to the image location.

Facebook promises (in the article) to have these more or less phased out in the next month or so, but let’s be very clear here: that doesn’t mean they are gone, only that facebook is no longer serving them from its archives. They may still end up being served to “authorized users” in the future.
