The FCC is considering expanded authorities to disable cell service, such as has been done in California to disrupt protestors at BART (transit) stations recently. Under the mantle of “public safety”, presumably bureaucrats would know what safety to protect then they see it. Like maybe jobs of politicians they work for, perhaps. The thorny problem: this could come at expense of other kinds of public safety that requires cell services – like ability to dial 911. The comment period on FCC’s inquiry is open now.
