We often talk about risk reduction exercises in our software engineering classes. Two articles this weekend contribute to the discussion. Even smart people make poor decisions if they don’t sample data or assess probabilities in sensible ways, is the message in the first article, and echoed in the second which talks about risk in the context of investments (much the same thing for our purposes.) We do ourselves a favor by understanding the role of personality and psychology in such matters.
