PEPCO, described as America’s “worst” power company, has had a hard time keeping your computers on over the last week. Virginia, on the other hand, had things back in operation in short order, in spite of the hard circumstances. Apparently there is a good reason for the discrepancy. Those at the top are optimizing for power (their own) and profit.

Any reasonable discussion about policy involving technology and resources must start with a clear understanding about the quality of information on which decisions are based – especially on what one hears from the government, as illustrated above.
