“Facebook and other social platforms are watching users’ chats for criminal activity and notifying police if any suspicious behavior is detected“, according to reports of an interview conducted by Reuters with Facebook’s chief security officer. A variety of heuristics are used to scan all traffic automatically, and selected sessions are routed to staff for further scrutiny. The report claims at least one internet predator has been charged and brought to trial as a direct result of this practice.
