An appellate court will pick up in the on-going legal battle over whether a Facebook ‘like’ constitutes free (and protected) speech. An employee working for Sheriff B.J. Roberts in Virgina was fired after the latter found his employee had ‘liked’ a political opponent who was challenging Roberts’ re-election. A lawsuit followed, with an unfavorable decision for the former employee at the District court. This is now appealed to the 4th Circuit.
