“Ustream’s incorrectly programmed copyright enforcement squad had destroyed our only access [to a live stream of the Hugo Awards event]. It was like a Cory Doctorow story crossed with RoboCop 2, with DRM robots going crazy and shooting indiscriminately into a crowd of perfectly innocent broadcasts.” Broadcasters had made clips available for use as winners received various awards, but then their own DRM-enforcement droids automatically cut the feed just as soon as the first clip was shown.
