On a public street, Andrew Henderson watched sheriff’s deputies frisk a man, who paramedics then treated and transported via ambulance. Henderson videotaped the activity, until police accosted him and confiscated the camera, alleging of all things a violation of HIPAA – the health care law. (The latter is absurd on its face.) He is now charged with obstruction of legal process and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, but as a practical matter, everything points to his being guilty of ‘contempt of cop’, where officials will bring the full weight of government on him knowing they are immune regardless of the outcome, but Henderson will pay in legal bills and time for having the temerity to exercise his rights.
