More fallout from our surveillance society, where police invade homes based on the most tenuous of tips. Apparently they need to justify their purchase of so many expensive toys by using them. Having screwed up, they then stonewalled access to records which showed that their raid on a house in search of marijuana started with a tip that the home’s owner had shopped for supplies at a hydroponics store. Yes – cops are monitoring homes (putting them under surveillance, seizing trash etc) of customers who shop at hydroponics stores, then using those data to fabricate excuses to get search warrants. The homeowners had to file suit just to get the records which exposed this, as police exercised their powers in order to obscure their actual track record.
