California Bill Proposes Mandatory Kill-Switch On Phones and Tablets in 2015

Politicians and law enforcement officials in California will introduce a bill on Friday that requires all smartphones and tablet PCs sold in the state be equipped with a digital “kill-switch” that would make the devices useless if stolen.

Personal Note: Considering the issues brought up with cell phones during the recent Ukrainian protests as well as how the government seems to go past user preferences often, I’d think that this probably isn’t the best idea to have implemented at such a large scale as opposed to promoting smaller scale, third party, open source solutions such as the Prey Project.
