Some spirited discussion on these topics continues. Following a July article which asserted (perhaps with some credibility) that “the nation’s top colleges are turning our kids into zombies“, a detailed response in the same venue asserts “the Ivy League is broken and only standardized tests can fix it“.

These commentaries address, in passing, the role of faculty in shaping both admissions and educational outcomes. What is impressive about about this is that at least at those schools faculty get a say in admissions and educational goals, unlike here at University of Maryland.
