Apple wants your stuff. Your default settings give it to them.

It used to be only poorly-crafted apps, or maybe ones deployed nefariously, pushed private data to the cloud without your permission. Now this is the default for Apple mobile devices, as users increasingly find to both their surprise and dismay.
