The WSJ has a nice article on reproducing scientific results, which focuses chiefly on pharmaceutical and medical projects. The rate at which others are able to reach the same conclusions as authors of peer-reviewed papers is shockingly low. We avoid this in computer science by not trying to reproduce results in the first place.
