That is the title of today’s commentary from George Will, concerning a New Mexico photography business, called Elane Photography, that has become the target of regulatory enforcement and litigation for choosing not to serve a couple in a same-gender commitment ceremony. The business has clearly chosen not to do business with the couple because of their lifestyle choice. At the same time, it also has clearly been set up by people who seek a live-and-let-live society but won’t give that consideration themselves. A large mix of rights – including expression and religion – are at issue. What is the way forward?
