Centralized checking of efforts by people who seek unemployment benefits may soon be a norm in the UK. The system would help match resumes with jobs, but also would keep track of whether the applicants are ‘trying hard enough’ to find work by counting contacts and interviews. If the advisers think too many opportunities are being declined for “specious reasons” then compulsory work options would be put in place, else the benefits removed.
