Over two hundred million Americans might be required to have private information about them – social security numbers, credit history and more – compiled into a national database concerning mortgages, if the Federal Housing Finance Agency has its way. This agency has an obligation to prepare an annual report on housing and lending practices, and they propose to go about preparing this report in one of the most heavy-handed ways possible.
