Poorly, seems to be the answer. The former Director of Information Security Oversight Office – in charge of managing decisions about secrecy – has become a strong and public critic of the system. He refers to the system for classifying information as “becoming dysfunctional” and says it “clearly lacks the ability to differentiate between trivial information and that which can truly damage our nation’s well-being.”
